Roy Gilliland VIEW PROFILE

Roy died on 8 January 2017 of a brain aneurysm in Robbinsville, NC.  He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years as a command pilot, flying C-130s and KC-135s. Following his military career, Roy became a CPA. He served for 20 years on the board of Standard Steel Specialty Company, a company founded in Pittsburgh by his great grandfather, Alexander Gilliland. Roy was a 32nd degree Mason, as were his father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He traveled to 38 countries and six continents, but loved his quiet life in Robbinsville. He is survived by his wife Joan, three children, and five grandchildren, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Roy was a good friend from second grade thru graduation.  I enjoyed catching up with him at the 50th reunion. I was sorry to hear of his passing.
